The TWO Most disturbing scenes in the bible

If I am being entirely honest, after all of my years as a Christian, I still fight the temptation to diminish the sacrifice of Jesus.

_______

Here are a few of the lies I battle from time to time:

1. Jesus was fully God, so He could handle the torture.
2. God loves His children, so it was worth it.
3. Sin is embedded in the hardware in all humans, so I shouldn’t feel too bad about it.

_______

A theological dive into homoousia or hypostasis wouldn’t correct the lies I tell myself because, if I’m honest, it isn’t the logic ladder of the sacrifice of Jesus that is the real problem.

The real problem is how uncomfortable I can get when I realize the penalty paid for my sins and my Sin.

And if Jesus did what He did in fact do to save me and set me free, I don’t always know how to respond to that kind of love.

It may be that humans are more comfortable feeling guilty than expressing gratitude.
