What We/He Did in the garden
I grew up a Hulkamaniac. I see now how naive I was. I genuinely believed that good defeats evil, light conquers darkness, and Hulkmania would live forever. (Incidentally, Youtube blocked a few short clips I included of Hulk Hogan so if you want the full experience, be sure to watch on Facebook or shakethegates.com/video.) But every boy grows up and to read the news just a bit is to doubt such thoughts. In reality, compromise is rewarded. Corruption is ignored. Cheaters win. Bad guys do bad guys things and get away with it. Everybody has a price (with a nod to Ted Dibiase).

Holy Saturday has to be the most unlikely, and maybe even unnecessary, day of Holy Week. It need not have existed at all. I mean, why didn’t Jesus just rise from the grave the next morning? Why wait until the third day? Why keep the tomb sealed another day? It’s not as if he was healing or recovering in order to perform the feat.
_______
I’m not a Bible scholar but I know enough to know nothing in the Bible is accidental. In this week’s talk, I share a lesson we are meant to learn from Holy Saturday that I’m convinced we desperately need and, at the same time, couldn’t learn any other way. Everything happened according to God’s plan.
